The Mexican striker has been far and away Wolves’ biggest goal threat this season, something which is reflected by the fact he’s been consistently picked in the starting XI for both Premier and Europa League games.

He’s started all three so far in this competition and looks a worthy favourite in the first goalscorer market here.

He’s bagged a total of 11 goals in his 20 appearances so far this term and with Diogo Jota suspended, none of his team-mates for this game has scored more than twice.

Jimenez is also on penalties and should be relishing the chance to add to his tally.

Wolves have adapted fairly well to European competition, putting a poor start to the group behind them with back-to-back away wins, including a 2-1 success in the reverse fixture a couple of weeks ago.

Jimenez netted in that game which was the third in a row in which Slovan have conceded twice in this competition.

They’ve been fairly strong defensively in the Slovak league but the step up in class has, unsurprisingly, seen them breached with greater regularity and they seem likely to be on the back foot for much of the game at Molineux.

Wolves did lose to Braga in their last home Europa game but they’ve since lost just once in 10 games – and that was in a League Cup tie when they made many changes.

They admittedly haven’t been banging in the goals – just two of their Premier League games have featured over 2.5 which makes 19/20 about the unders tempting here - but when they have scored it’s often been Jimenez finding the target.

Recommendation

Raul Jimenez first goalscorer – 10/3 with bet365

    Wolves 1-0 Slovan Bratislava

Raul Jimenez headed home a late winner as Wolves edged a 1-0 Europa League victory at home to Slovan Bratislava.

The hosts showed three alterations to the side who drew 1-1 with Arsenal last weekend, with Maximilian Kilman, Ruben Vinagre and Pedro Neto starting in place of Romain Saiss, Jonny Otto and Diogo Jota.

Wolves won the meeting of the two sides in Slovakia 2-1 a couple of weeks ago, with Romain Saiss and Raul Jimenez their goalscorers.

Early on Kenan Bajric missed a close-range chance for the visitors, who were then indebted to keeper Dominik Grief as he kept out a deflected Joao Moutinho shot.

Just past the 20-minute mark Slovan skipper Vasil Bozhikov made a crucial intervention close to his own goal-line, heading clear with Jimenez closing in.

The remainder of the first half saw the hosts struggle to break down a resolute visiting backline, with Kilman heading a rare opening wide just before the interval.

Wolves had the perfect opportunity to break the deadlock straight after the restart as Bozhikov sent Neto crashing in the area, but Grief got down well to his right to keep out the resulting spot-kick from Ruben Neves.

The Slovan keeper then made a fine save to deny Jimenez, after the Mexico frontman had turned away from his marker and volleyed goalwards after receiving a pass from Moutinho.

Neves tried his luck with a trademark long-distance drive, but again Grief was equal to the task and soon after there was a lengthy halt to play as Bajric was caught in the face by Jimenez.

And it was Jimenez who was to finally break the deadlock in stoppage time, heading home from a cross delivered by Adama Traore from the right-hand side.
