Tuesday’s second live Serie A game on Premier Sports sees second-placed Inter Milan host Napoli.
Inter’s title challenge finally ended at the weekend and they will now turn their attention to the Europa League.
Likewise, Napoli still have European football to look forward to with a Champions League meeting with Barcelona looming.
It’s therefore a bit tricky to envisage how each team will approach this game – Inter’s top-four spot is secure, while Napoli have already booked Europa League football next term thanks to their Coppa Italia success last month.
Napoli beat Inter at the San Siro in the semi-finals of that competition but their hopes of a repeat have been hurt by the suspension of Dries Mertens.
That cup win was certainly against the grain – they’ve struggled away to Serie A best sides this season. Gennaro Gattuso’s men have collected just a single point from their five trips to the teams currently above them in the table.
A similar look at Inter’s record shows where their title bid was undermined – they’ve won just three of 11 home games against the top 13 in the division.
The draw begins to look tempting at 11/4 and with 10 of Inter’s 11 post-lockdown games having featured over 2.5 goals, 2-2 is a nice-looking 12/1.
Mertens’ absence is blow to Napoli’s scoring power but in Arkadiusz Milik, Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon, the visitors still have plenty of goal threat and should make a game of this.
