The fight for Champions League football is set for a climatic end this Sunday with Chelsea hoping to bag a place in Europe’s premier club competition.
Frank Lampard’s men failed to secure a top four finish last Wednesday following their 5-3 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. This result leaves Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester still in contention for the two available spots in the top four.
The Blues will get another shot at Champions League football when they host sixth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final round of Premier League fixtures this season.
The home side are priced as the 17/20 favourites to beat Wolves and secure their European football ambitions. The visitors, meanwhile, are currently available at around the 3/1 mark.
With Wolves looking to secure Europa League football for next season, they will also see this as a must-win fixture. Bearing this in mind, we could be in for a close contest at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have won three of their last five head to head games against Wolves; this includes their last encounter which saw Lampard’s men claim a 5-2 away win at Molineux.
If Nuno Santo’s men are to come out victorious, they’ll also have to overcome a poor record away at Stamford Bridge. Wolves have lost five of their last six visits to the ground with their last meeting ending in a 1-1 draw.
One Chelsea weakness which Wolves will be hoping to exploit is their defence. Lampard’s men have conceded nine goals from their last five games. That is huge compared to Wolverhampton who in that same time conceded just four goals.
Looking at the betting Wolves provide a lot more value however, their poor record at Stamford Bridge does raise concerns. With this in mind, our recommendation is to back the draw at 14/5.
