There’s a big Euro 2020 qualifier on Thursday as Norway take on Serbia.
The hosts will be full of confidence here, having thrashed Northern Ireland 5-1 in Belfast, their most recent outing a month ago, although they may be concerned by a 2-1 home defeat to Austria immediately preceding that.
Still, Norway look on the up, and they only narrowly missed out on a second-place finish in their tricky Euro 2020 qualifying group, which featured old rivals Sweden as well as Spain. After starting out with a 2-1 defeat away to Spain, they went unbeaten in their following nine group qualifiers (four wins, five score draws, including a memorable 3-3 at home to Sweden and a creditable 1-1 at home to Spain).
Serbia, meanwhile, looked lacking in last month’s Nations League outings, well-beaten 3-1 away to Russia before a drab and forgettable goalless draw at home to Turkey.
It’s rare these odds will have been offered given the difference in standing between these two national sides in recent years, but given their recent form, Norway are actually the favourites with Betfair Sportsbook here; 13/10 for the victory in 90 minutes, 13/20 to qualify, compared to 11/5 and 6/5 on both counts for the visitors.
We recommend backing Erling Haaland to score two or more goals here. The rising star scored twice in last month’s 5-1 win over Northern Ireland, taking his tally to three goals from four appearances for his country. The 20-year-old comes also into this contest in particularly good form, with two goals in two of his last three appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
That’s priced at 15/2 to score anytime with Paddy Power.
