The second FA Cup semi-final features two sides who are also battling for a top four finish in the Premier League; Chelsea and Manchester United.
The two clubs have a rich rivalry in this competition having previously met in the 1994, 2007 and 2018 finals. The Blues may have won the latter two of those showpiece encounters however, they will be the underdogs in Sunday’s game.
Manchester United are in sensational form with the recent 2-0 win over Crystal Palace extending their unbeaten run to 19 straight games across all competitions.
Chelsea, it would seem, have work cut out for them this Sunday. Frank Lampard’s men come into this game with mixed form having lost two of their last five games this month.
Victories over Watford, Crystal Palace and Norwich were dampened by defeats to West Ham and Sheffield United however, the Blues still cannot be underestimated.
The bookmakers have made Man United the favourites here at the price of 7/5. Chelsea, meanwhile, are priced as the underdogs and are currently available at 2/1. These odds don’t offer much value and it may be worthwhile looking at other markets.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have a good record against Chelsea winning four of their last five head to head games. What’s more, they haven’t lost to Lampard’s side in six consecutive games. Interestingly, three of those six games have seen both sides score.
In recent weeks both sides have also proved that they are capable of turning on the style in attack. United have scored 15 goals from their last five games while Chelsea managed nine over the same amount of games.
Both are also in mixed form when it comes to defending having kept two clean sheets from their last four Premier League games.
Bearing this in mind, our recommendation is to back the over 3.5 goals bet at the current price of 12/5. Both teams have been involved in high scoring games over the past couple of weeks and at the price of 12/5, there’s certainly value in this market.
