Bayer Leverkusen will be looking to do a rare season double over Bayern Munich when the two teams clash this weekend.
With five games to go until the end of the season, league leaders Bayern Munich are closing in on the title. Hansi Flick’s men are currently seven points clear of Borussia Dortmund and a massive nine points over third-placed RB Leipzig.
With this in mind, both BVB and RasenBallsport will be hoping Leverkusen can do them a massive favour by completing what would be an incredible season double over the defending champions.
Earlier this season, two goal from Leon Bailey sealed a famous 2-1 win for Die Werkself at the Allianz Arena; their first win at the ground since 2012.
This time, the two teams meet at the BayArena which has become a real fortress for Peter Bosz’s side in 2020. Out of eight competitive games at the ground this year, Leverkusen have won seven. However, it must be noted that the one defeat did come in Leverkusen’s last home outing which saw them hammered 4-1 by Wolfsburg.
The question is, does Bayer have enough to stop Hansi Flick’s machine? Bayern Munich come into this game having won 18 of their last 19 competitive games. This is a side that hasn’t tasted defeat since December and one that’s scored 11 goals in their last three games.
Despite this, Leverkusen has been a real problem for the champions over the last year. Peter Bosz’s side have won their last two games against Bayern and they will be eyeing a third straight win.
Looking at the betting, unsurprisingly the numbers aren’t very exciting if you are wanting to back Bayern. Even a wincast featuring a win for the Bavarians and an opening goal from Robert Lewandowski comes up to a mere 2/1.
With that in mind, our recommendation is to back a home win by a margin of one goal which at the time of writing is priced at 7/1. This bet landed when both teams last met.
