A slender loss to Leicester City, two draws with Bournemouth and Chelsea plus, a hard-earned victory over Crystal Palace – it’s clear that Sheffield United will be a lot tougher than many expect.

They certainly enjoyed a better start than Southampton who lost their opening two games. A 3-0 defeat to Burnley and 2-1 loss to Liverpool put some initial early pressure on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

Nevertheless, the team bounced back well with a 2-0 win over Brighton and a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Based on those first few results and the fact that the game is played in South Yorkshire, Sheffield Untied have been made the slight favourites.

With that in mind, the recommendation is to back Southampton. Saints have looked strong in their last two games and with them being priced at 2/1, there’s no way we could let a price like that go unnoticed.

Sheffield United v Southampton

Sheffield United face Southampton on Saturday hoping the momentum from their comeback at Chelsea has not been lost.

The Blades produced their best 45 minutes of the season so far as they overcame a 2-0 half-time deficit at Stamford Bridge to secure a 2-2 draw before the international break.
A fortnight will have passed since that clash in west London by the time they kick-off against the Saints in the first top-flight meeting between the two sides since 1994.
Boss Chris Wilder is hopeful the break won't have taken the wind out of their sails and wants to see his team continue to build on their good start to the season, having taken five points from their first four matches.
“I think it’s been a great start for us, I was looking for consistent performances and we’re being as competitive as we can,” Wilder told reporters.
“Individually - yeah we need to cut out some mistakes from a team point of view. But we’ve deserved every point we’ve got.”
Wilder has been boosted by the news Callum Robinson, who scored at Chelsea last time out, and David McGoldrick will be passed fit after picking up minor knocks on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
The Irish duo and Jon Fleck are United's only injury concerns, with the latter due to undergo a late fitness test.
Meanwhile, Southampton won't be able to call on Nathan Redmond as he continues to receive treatment for an ankle ligament injury, while Kevin Danso is suspended.
Michael Obafemi has returned to training, having sat out the 1-1 draw with Manchester United, while Ryan Bertrand and Moussa Djenepo have a chance of being passed fit.
The Saints won on their last trip away from home when beating Brighton 2-0 at the Amex Stadium although that was only their seventh victory in the last 38 road league games.
