Chelsea v Leicester City - Match Preview

Chelsea v Leicester City

Leicester boss Claude Puel will seek to ease the pressure put on him when he takes his team to Chelsea on Saturday.

bet365 match odds: Chelsea 1/3, Draw 9/2, Leicester 10/1

The French coach has had to answer questions about his future at the King Power Stadium recently after a run of one win from six league matches, while fans were left upset by his decision to field a weakened team in the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City.

The Foxes were eventually eliminated on penalties by the Citizens and Puel will be hoping his decision to rest several members of his first-team squad is justified by achieving a result at Stamford Bridge.

Jamie Vardy is set to return to the starting line-up after being rested in midweek, while Ben Chilwell is expected to feature after missing the last two matches.

Wilfred Ndidi is struggling with a knee injury and Daniel Amartey is out until the new year with an ankle as Leicester head to the capital seeking a first win at Chelsea since 2000.

The Blues will be hoping to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, having booked their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals during the week with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

That followed hot on the heels of a 2-1 win at Brighton, their third win in four Premier League matches, with Eden Hazard playing a key role in both games.

The Belgium international has played in a false nine position in recent weeks and boss Maurizio Sarri feels that is his best position.

Hazard's role in the team means Olivier Giroud will likely be on the bench, while Alvaro Morata is set to miss out once again due to a knee injury.

Andreas Christensen is the only injury absentee ahead of Saturday’s game, having limped off against the Cherries with a hamstring issue.

David Luiz, N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Marcos Alonso are expected to return to the starting line-up after Sarri rotated for the Carabao Cup victory.

Cheeky Punt says:

"Jamie Vardy is set to feature against Chelsea and with this in mind both teams to score doesn’t look the worst bet in the world at 21/20, even though the Foxes have been a bit shy around the onion bag over the past few weeks. Chelsea are in need of a striker as Alvaro Morata has been a massive letdown for them and it will be interesting to see if they make a move for someone in January.
