West Ham United host Burnley on Wednesday evening as they look to take another step towards safety and away from the relegation zone.
David Moyes’ Hammers had looked just as incapable of picking up points as sorry relegation rivals Bournemouth and Aston Villa on their return to action, suffering back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Wolves and Tottenham to make it seven defeats from their last nine.
But they looked much improved last week against high-flying Chelsea and have now moved four points clear of the bottom three after beating Frank Lampard’s Blues 3-2 courtesy of a late winner from substitute Andriy Yarmolenko before drawing 2-2 to Newcastle on Sunday.
Mikail Antonio has scored in each of his last two appearances and is 11/5 to notch again here, but even as they’ve started to pick up points they’ve continued to make major defensive lapses, with some particularly sloppy play to allow Newcastle to equalise for a second time on Sunday.
They’ve conceded two goals in each of their four games since lockdown, and can be backed at 10/3 to win whilst failing to keep a clean sheet.
Burnley, meanwhile, have midtable security safely wrapped up with little at stake in this trip to East London, but his Sean Dyche’s reliable core of players have kept getting results. They returned with a dismal 5-0 thrashing against Manchester City, but that’s their only defeat in their last eight outings, and they’ve since taken seven points from the last nine on offer.
With both sides looking in bright form coming into this clash, we recommend backing a draw here. It’s available at 12/5.
