Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton & Hove Albion

There will be a lot at stake in North London on Tuesday when top-four hopefuls Tottenham play host to relegation-threatened Brighton.

After booking their place in the Champions League semi-finals in dramatic fashion against Manchester City last midweek, Spurs were brought back down to earth after losing 1-0 to the same opposition in the league on Saturday.
That result leaves Spurs' top-four hopes hanging in the balance, but they will fancy their chances of maintaining their perfect record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday, as they have won all three of their matches at the venue and are yet to concede a goal.
Brighton, by contrast, have failed to win or score in any of their last five Premier League games, a run that has seen them slip just a place and three points above the bottom three.
Relegation remains a distinct possibility for Chris Hughton's side, although they did end a five-game losing streak across all competitions by earning a goalless draw against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.
Tottenham should be able to welcome captain Hugo Lloris back in goal after he sat out Saturday's defeat to City with a muscular issue, although top scorer Harry Kane remains sidelined with an ankle problem.
Brighton will assess the fitness of Davy Propper and Bruno, who were both substituted during the draw with Wolves, while Anthony Knockaert will serve the final match of his three-game ban.

    Date published: 4/24/2019 1:11:42 PM

Spurs strengthened their hold on third spot with a 1-0 win over relegation threatened Brighton thanks to Christian Eriksen's late goal.

Albion looked set to earn a crucial point in North London in their fight against the drop but their resistance was broken with two minutes of normal time remaining as Eriksen drilled in a low effort after being set up by Dele Alli.
Tottenham, who were without injured striker Harry Kane, dominated possession and enjoyed plenty of chances but poor finishing and Mathew Ryan in the Brighton goal ensured the game remained goalless until the final stages.
Toby Alderweireld was denied by the woodwork as Spurs began to press won 73 minutes and Eriksen produced a superb save from Ryan with less than 10 minutes to play, but the Dane wasn't to be denied and grabbed a vital victory for the hosts with his late effort.
Spurs remain third in the Premier League table and now have a four point lead over Arsenal in fifth, while the Seagulls are 17th and three points clear of danger with just three games remaining.
