Incredibly, it’s not Manchester United who are coming into this game as the third placed team – it’s Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have drew their first two games of the season with Wolves and Chelsea before going on to beat Sheffield Untied and Bournemouth.

Manchester United, on the other hand, enjoyed a dream start when they thrashed Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford.

But since then, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side drew 1-1 with Wolves, lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace and lastly, drew 1-1 with Southampton.

In spite of Manchester’s downfall in recent years, they still have a superb record over the Foxes. The Red Devils have won six from their last seven meetings with Leicester – this includes their double last season.

Previous results may be against Leicester in this meeting however, recent form certainly isn’t. If you include their Carabao Cup win over Newcastle, the Foxes are heading into this game having won three straight games in all competitions.

With that in mind, we’re backing the visitors to pull off a surprise. A double chance bet on the Foxes is priced at 21/20 – that is good enough to make this bet into a recommendation.

Manchester United v Leicester City

Date published: 9/13/2019 1:09:55 PM

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Paul Pogba is expected to miss Saturday's big clash with Leicester City at Old Trafford.

The World Cup winner is one of a number of first-team stars in the treatment room, with Solskjaer facing a number of selection dilemmas going into the meeting with the Foxes.
Pogba is struggling with an ankle problem and will be joined on the sidelines by Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw, who are both struggling with thigh injuries.
Solskjaer, who is already without Diogo Dalot, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Eric Bailly, will also hand fitness tests to Aaron Wan-Bissaka (back) and the ill Jesse Lingard.
United go into the clash three points and five places behind Leicester, but they do have a good recent record against the Foxes - they are unbeaten in their last 10 meetings in all competitions.
Brendan Rodgers takes his team to Old Trafford with just one injury concern, as defender Wes Morgan is rated doubtful due to a back problem which kept him out of Leicester's win over Bournemouth prior to the international break.
The Foxes, who are still missing long-term absentees Matthew James and Daniel Amartey, have lost just one of their last six Premier League away games, with that defeat coming at Manchester City.
This fixture finished in a 2-1 win for the hosts last term, with goals from Pogba (pen) and Shaw proving the difference despite Jamie Vardy's late consolation, as United did the league double over the Foxes.

    Manchester United 1-0 Leicester City

Manchester United rediscovered the winning feeling thanks to a gritty performance against Leicester City in a fairly even encounter at Old Trafford.

The winner came as early as the eighth minute in what had been a bright start that promised more goals, with Marcus Rashford making amends for his last penalty miss against Crystal Palace by winning a spot-kick, then sending Kasper Schmeichel the wrong way.

Nemanja Matic was given a start by the home side in place of the injured Paul Pogba, while Leicester started Hamza Choudhury and Demarai Gray in place of Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes, who both dropped to the bench.

Andreas Pereira tested Schmeichel with an early free-kick, destined for the top corner, before James Maddison was thwarted by David de Gea from around 10 yards out after a misjudgement from Victor Lindelof before Rashford’s strike gave the hosts the lead.

That was as good as it got in the first half for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men as the Foxes grew stronger as the opening period went on, Ben Chilwell’s 25-yard volley forcing a finger-tip save from De Gea before Caglar Soyuncu and Choudhury couldn’t convert half-chances.

United looked like they meant business at the start of the second period, with Juan Mata denied by Schmeichel before Pereira and Daniel James, twice, went close from distance.

Maddison fizzed a 25-yard free-kick just the wrong side of the upright with De Gea stood watching for Leicester’s best chance, but in truth a resolute United defence kept the visitors largely quiet for a rare clean sheet, only their second in 16 league matches.

Rashford saw a 30-yard free-kick thunder off the top of the crossbar, while Pereira tested Schmeichel from the edge of the box as United threatened on the counter, but in truth their priority appeared to be keeping Leicester out at the other end, with Harry Maguire superbly marshalling the defence against his old side.

The victory sees United go above their genuine top-six rivals on goal difference in fourth, with Brendan Rodger’s men slipping to fifth after their first defeat of the season.
