Crystal Palace will be hoping to end their seven-match winless run when they welcome Newcastle to Selhurst Park.
Are Crystal Palace in crisis? Well that depends whether you consider one win in 12 games a crisis. Palace are certainly enduring a downturn in form and are in need of points to avoid being dragged further down the table.
Roy Hodgson’s men have lost three games in a row which is disappointing considering the team went into those three fixtures on the back of consecutive draws against Manchester City and Arsenal.
However, before you dismiss Palace, bear in mind that during this poor run over the last 12 games, five of them have ended in defeats and six in draws.
Another team which has endured a high number of draws lately is Newcastle. The Magpies have drawn five of their last nine games in all competitions. That doesn’t include their FA Cup replay with Oxford United which went all the way to extra time.
Steve Bruce’s men will be looking for a return to winning ways following a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Arsenal. It’s important to point out that Newcastle played relatively well for a large period of that game and many say they should have been ahead.
The bad news for neutral fans ahead of this game is the fact that this fixture doesn’t tend to produce many goals. In fact, there have only been six in as many encounters.
All of the stats and numbers point to a boring draw at Selhurst Park and at the price of 12/5, it’s a bet that does offer value.
