Sean Dyche’s in-form Burnley will fancy their chances on Saturday’s late kick-off when Tottenham Hotspur come to visit, with Jose Mourinho saying his players are tired after their penalty shootout defeat at home to Norwich in their midweek FA Cup match.
Burnley have faced off against Tottenham 11 times in the Premier League, winning just twice, although both of those wins came at Turf Moor, the latest a 2-1 last season.
They’ll be wary to avoid a repeat of the 5-0 defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture in North London in December, but at the time the form guide was almost completely reversed and Spurs’ top two goalscorers this season - Harry Kane and Son Heung-min - were responsible for three of their goals.
Sean Dyche’s Clarets now come into this match in some of their best form of the season and could even leapfrog the visitors to move up to 7th with a victory here. They’re unbeaten in six games in the league with four wins and two draws, turning their form around completely since a 3-0 defeat at Chelsea left them 15th and just four points above the drop zone.
Ashley Barnes, Ben Gibson and Matt Lowton are unavailable, leaving Matej Vydra, top scorer Chris Wood (10 goals) and Jay Rodriguez competing for the spots up front.
Spurs, meanwhile, are suffering a real slump of form under Jose Mourinho, who is making concerning sounds in the media about their fitness and fatigue. It’s now four consecutive defeats in all competitions if you include losing on penalties following Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Norwich.
We recommend backing a draw here. Spurs haven’t won any of their last four matches in all competitions and come into this match two places and two points better off than the hosts.
