The writing is on the wall for Aston Villa as their hopes of survival wane with every matchday.
Dean Smith’s men host Crystal Palace this weekend as they try and hang on to their Premier League status.
Here are some key stats to help you in your quest.
Who will win the game?
Aston Villa have only recorded seven wins this season however, if they are to turn their survival bid into a serious one, they’ll need an eighth victory here against Palace. Speaking of Roy Hodgson’s men, this is a side low on confidence having lost four straight league games.
The Eagles may have had some tricky opponents during this losing run however, they will certainly be keen to turn things around. This won’t be easy though as Palace have only managed one win at Villa Park from their last nine visits in all competitions.
Which team will get the first goal?
This question is certainly not an easy one to answer when you realise that collectively Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have scored three goals between them from their last four games.
Villa have lost three of their last four games having scored one goal during this run. Palace, on the other hand, have lost their last two away games; conceding seven goals and scoring none in the process.
Despite sitting 19th in the table, Dean Smith’s side have actually scored six more goals this season than Palace. Bearing everything in mind, backing Villa to score first may not be such crazy idea after all.
Will the home club record a clean sheet?
Unlikely. Aston Villa have conceded the most goals this season in the Premier League with 65 to their name. While Palace may have failed to put the ball in the back of the net during their last two games, they are certainly more than capable of penetrating Villa’s fragile defence.
How many assists will Jack Grealish record?
The Villa midfielder has recorded six assists this season while also managing to score seven goals himself. The 24-year-old has certainly been one of the few shining lights for a team that edges closer towards relegation. Nevertheless, it’s unlikely that Grealish will improve his assist tally with his side struggling to score in recent weeks.
