The Championship’s early kick-off on Saturday sees second-tier newcomers Wycombe Wanderers host Swansea City.
Lots of pundits have written off Wycombe this season, and they’re the bookmakers favourites for relegation by a long way but Gareth Ainsworth’s men have revelled in proving the doubters wrong in recent years - especially in last year’s against-the-odds promotion from League One.
Wycombe held their own in their first-ever second-tier match a fortnight ago, only losing 1-0 to fellow promoted side Rotherham with an injury-time goal proving the difference, but they looked out of their depth in a 5-0 thrashing suffered at Blackburn last weekend.
Swansea, on the other hand, have made a reasonable start to the new season after they missed out on promotion last term via the play-off semi-final. It’s another rebuilding job for Steve Cooper with another set of new loanees, but they’ve taken four points from six available as they look sturdy and solid - a narrow 1-0 over Preston was followed by a goalless draw at home to Birmingham last weekend.
Paddy Power reckon this could be another low-scoring encounter, which is perhaps no surprise considering they’ve scored a combined one goal from four outings in total so far this term. Under 2.5 goals is priced at just 6/10, but under 1.5 goals is worth considering at a generous odds of 2/1.
Given how Wycombe fared against Blackburn last week, we can’t see anything but a comfortable Swansea victory here. A 2-0 away victory is priced at a generous 13/2 with Betfair Sportsbook.
