Coventry City host Queens Park Rangers in the Championship’s Friday night match.
Newly-promoted Coventry didn’t get the return to the Championship they were looking for last weekend with a 2-1 defeat away at Bristol City.
However, Mark Robins’ men had their fair share of opportunities at Ashton Gate and certainly didn’t look out of place back in the second tier and will have been disappointed to squander a point at a late corner as Robins centre-half Tomas Kalas was left free to head home.
Striker Matt Godden continued as he left off in League One last year, scoring a second-half equaliser for the Sky Blues and looking lively as he found himself with a number of shooting opportunities, while Callum O’Hare was unlucky to be denied by the woodwork.
Expect Robins to go with the same tactics and personnel on this occasion, with a back three, Ryan Giles and Josh Pask operating as wingbacks.
QPR, meanwhile, showed much-needed improvement defensively in their opening fixture last weekend, keeping out favourites Nottingham Forest and recording a well-deserved 2-0 win, with summer signing Lyndon Dykes opening the scoring from the penalty spot - a much-needed early contribution after losing last season’s key men Eberechi Eze and Jordan Hugill.
Geoff Cameron and Tom Carroll looked a robust and solid double-pivot for QPR, with Yoann Barbet impressing alongside Robert Dickie in defence. Clean sheets were few and far between last season but it looks as that’s something they’ve looked to address in the summer.
Paddy Power have QPR striker Lyndon Dykes well down in the goalscorer markets here, down at 15/2 to score first and 7/2 to score anytime. That’s something to consider after he got off the mark on his debut last week, and is evidently their designated penalty taker as he provides the focal point of their attack.
We recommend backing QPR to win to nil again here. Mark Warburton’s men looked organised as they kept out Nottingham Forest’s attack last time out and will likely deploy a similar gameplan here. That’s priced at 4/1 with Betfair Sportsbook.
