Riga will no doubt be happier of the two sides. After going over to Ireland and managing a 0-0 draw, they now welcome the Irish champions to the Skonto stadium – a place where Riga have only lost one of their last eight games.
The one good thing for Dundalk is the away goal rule. If the Irish side manage a goal, it could be worth its weight in gold.
In terms of recent form, once again it is Riga who seem to have the edge. An away 6-0 thrashing of Super Nova is likely to give the hosts plenty of confidence.
That’s certainly something that Dundalk will lack after only managing a 0-0 draw with Derry City in their last domestic game.
Looking at the betting, it’s clear that the bookmakers fancy the hosts to do the business. We’re not so sure. While Riga may have a lot of things in their favour, we cannot forget that Dundalk are currently on a 17 match unbeaten run (14 of those being victories).
When you put that stat next to the 12/5 outright price, the recommendation becomes obvious.
